John Galliano Spring/Summer 2011

Nuovi Ragazzi Italiani, March 18, 2011

John Galliano made an astonishing ready-to-wear menswear collection for spring/summer 2011, he presented it in Paris putting on a great runway show focused on the old silver screen stars such as Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

The show can be divided in periods: Chaplin opens the runway with a series of oversized and drop-crotch circular cut pants, fitted jackets and waistcoats all characterized by the grey palette in different tones; then comes Buster Keaton with beautiful 30’s style summer suits in white nuances preserving that melancholy protagonist throughout this collection.

After the silver screen stars revisited look Galliano raises the temperature with a fast run of pale marine trunks, negligees and beachwear followed by a return of the suit with black jackets and shirts mixed with pinstriped pants.

The “madness” and the creativity of the artist as usual sets up a gorgeous and unique collection.
