Over a month ago my dearest friend Tamu invited me to the photoshoot for her clothing line Kenema. The shoot took place in a The New Blue studio down in Hackney, and I was more than happy to go support her new collection and take some behind the scene photos along with Osei (Fly Prints) who did some filming. It was a long, but exciting day which gave me the chance to meet a lot of new people! Read more to see the photos and a trailer.
Some information on Kenema:
“Kenema is contemporary African themed high street fashion label created by Tamu Thomas . She is at the forefront of a cultural an entrepreneurial renaissance taking place in the UK. Kenema makes contemporary African clothing mainstream whilst simultaneously helping to improve the human condition. They represent the modern fashion designer, the modern entrepreneur and the modern woman.”

The photoshoot was for the new Mende collection which will be out next year. I really like Kenema’s collection because it shows off its African influence proudly and colorfully. Although it’s only womenswear at the moment, I really can’t wait to see this come out.
The styling was done by Alize. The models were absolutely beautiful. Nyla & Ashade were both amazing and confident doing a great job. The photoshoot was done by JR and Wayne. Make up was all done by the lovely Annette Beauvoir and the filming by Osei from Fly Prints.

It was my first time meeting everyone, I have been speaking to some of them for a few months now through Twitter and it was great to finally meet up! Tamu very kindly bought us Nando’s for lunch as well (my first time having Nando’s) so I was more than happy! Overall I must admit this was the best day in London for me, I spent my whole day with some amazing people and also learned a lot.
