Thursday – The Weeknd

Canadian Rnb group The Weeknd drop a new mixtape called ‘Thursday’ featuring 9 songs. The style of the mixtape is very much like their mix tape ‘House of Balloons’ with very relaxing music with amazing use of instrumentals. They’ve gained a lot of popularity recently due to Drake mentioning them a lot in interviews and announced that they’d be featured on his upcoming album.
It’s great to see them drop some new stuff, I’ve had their other mix tape on for the whole summer. At first I didn’t really understand all the hype surrounding them, but after listening to them a few more times they slowly grew on me. Their use of instrumentals as I mentioned above and amazing voice really differentiates them from other Rnb artists. Rnb is all the same these days, artists sing about the same old things, but The Weeknd aren’t quite the same and it will be interesting to see what they come up with in the near future.
